3×5 Rule

The “3×5 Rule” describes National Safety Code ASME ANSI A17.1 Rule 5.3.1.4.2. The effect of the 3×5 rule is to ensure all spaces and clearances between the elevator shaft and cab are minimized and relatively inaccessible. Southeastern Elevator encourages working in conjunction with the architect, contractor and property owner to ensure the 3×5 Rule, as well as all other building codes, are met. Since we custom design each elevator or lift, our cabs and shafts naturally fit the surrounding spaces better and the 3×5 rule is more easily met.
